Background:

Although there has been a Catholic primary school in Beverley since 1883, the small school moved to its present site in 1962. It is located in 'beautiful' and 'easily accessible' grounds in the middle of the Swinemoor estate on the outskirts of the historic market town of Beverley. Support is available within the curriculum for children with special educational needs and more able pupils, as part of a policy of recognising everyone 'as an individual with strengths and weaknesses'. Extra-curricular activities include recorders, orchestra, choir, football, netball and gymnastics. Swimming lessons are offered to Years 3-6 once a year and Year 5 pupils attend a residential visit in Northumberland or Derbyshire. A small number of children can learn the violin. 'Good' community links add a 'valuable dimension' to pupils' experiences. They also raise money for a variety of charities, while the 'thriving' parent-teacher association organises social and fundraising events for the school.
