Background:
The school was built in 1979 and since then it has benefited from two extensions, most recently in 1999. One of two schools in Hedon, Inmans serves the newer housing estate to the east of the town. The mainly grassed grounds contain four playground areas and disabled access is available. A computer network has recently been installed with 30 new computers and a laptop for each teacher. The curriculum is taught within a safe, secure, happy and challenging atmosphere and Year 6 pupils learn French. A wide range of extra-curricular activities includes a Kids Club to provide before-school and after-school care. In 1999, pupils played at Wembley in the Adidas Predator Community Cup final. Tuition is available in the recorder, the violin and woodwind instruments and residential educational visits are offered to older children. The school is keen to be a part of the community, and lends its building for events and for adult education. There are close links with the BP chemicals site at Saltend in Hull and BP also helps to fund-match many of the funds raised by the Friends of Inmans School group. The school aims to provide a safe, secure, happy and challenging environment in which feels enabled to develop and learn together.
