Background:
Founded in 1845, the school is now housed in a building which opened in 1974. It is situated in the village of Flamborough on the east coast of Yorkshire, where the main industries are tourism and fishing, and pupils make use of the local environment in their studies. The village is considered to be isolated even though it is only four miles from the town of Bridlington. The school has 'extensive' grounds which contain a playing field and a wildlife area. It highlights its range of extra-curricular activities as well as pupils' academic achievements. Clubs are offered in football, netball, hockey, tennis, drama and wildlife. Pupils regularly play in sporting fixtures against other schools. Flamborough Primary benefits from 'good' links with the community and an 'active' home-school association, responsible for organising fundraising and social events for parents. Pupils regularly raise money for charities.
