Background:
Estcourt Primary aims to provide pupils with the opportunity to 'develop to the maximum of their potential'. The school makes use of facilities at a nearby sports ground for a number of activities. Pupils can take part in a range of sports and after-school sports clubs take place each week. In house football and netball tournaments are organised in the summer. Local footballers and rugby players regularly visit the school and the Scottish ballet hold a workshop in school when they are in the area. Educational visits to the theatre, cinema and other places of interest are often offered. Extra-curricular clubs and activities include craft, netball, rounders, football, cricket, bookshop, drama, choir, gardening, music, bible, indoor games and art. The school is able to accommodate physically handicapped children and special educational needs (SEN) are catered for by teachers, teachers' aids and child support assistants. Children with SEN work through individual education programmes which are reviewed regularly and parents are kept informed of their progress.
