Background:
South Hunsley School opened in 1956 as a County Secondary School. It occupies a 48 acre site which is 'pleasantly situated' in the village of Melton which is about 10 kilometres west of Hull. The school has been expanded over the years and now consists of 'a good range of specialised facilities, excellent sporting provision and extensive and attractive grounds'. South Hunsley provides a range of extra-curricular activities including music, drama, academic clubs, conservation and sport ; 'we try to cater for all tastes and abilities'. The school'serves as a community sports provider and facilities include a swimming pool and two gymnasiums. The belief of the school is that 'we are a learning community of students, teachers, non-teaching staff and parents where the foundation of corporate life is the acceptance of a shared set of values which reflect the nature of learning itself'.
