Longcroft School first opened its doors to young people in September 1949. The college is situated in Molescroft on the northern outskirts of Beverley, the enviable campus being surrounded by open countryside, Beverley Westwood and Beverley racecourse. It serves the town of Beverley and the villages in the surrounding rural areas. The school has three main buildings known as the lower school (Years 7 and 8); the upper school (Years 9, 10 and 11) and the art and science block where the sixth form is based. The school has many impressive facilities including nine science laboratories, as well as technology areas, art rooms, two music, dance and drama suites, a language laboratory, computer and business studies rooms, three libraries, a fitness suite and three gymnasia together with classrooms allocated to specialist subject areas, such as English, mathematics, foreign languages and humanities. An exciting refurbishment programme of technology areas has been completed. The sixth form social area has been extended and new general purpose classrooms built. Lower school science laboratories have been refurbished. The upper school hall has been converted into a specialist performing arts area, adjacent to which is a well-equipped recording studio. A new music technology suite is popular with students. The school has a wide range of activities taking place at lunchtime, after-school, during weekends and holidays. In 1999 Sport England presented Longcroft with the Sportsmark award and this was repeated in 2001. Dramatical and musical activities have flourished at the school for many years. The other lunchtime activities include science club, art club, chess club, stamp club, Christian union, literacy club, textile club, a computer club, foreign language club and many revision classes for older students. The school'supports a wide variety of community and charity projects at local, national and international levels.
