Background:
Aldbrough Primary is situated in the centre of a 'lively' rural village 12 miles to the East of Hull near to the historic town of Beverley. The school comprises a Victorian building which has been extended and modernised, and a large playing field. The school enjoys a good relationship with parents and there is an active Parent-Teacher Association. The school also has links with the local community, churches and a local charitable trust. It also prides itself on its music and drama. All children in Key Stage 2 learn to play the recorder and there is a school orchestra with string, brass and woodwind sections. The drama club presents an annual production. The school enters all local sports competitions and 'fosters a healthy competitive spirit'. Other clubs include aerobics, country dancing and craft work. Pupils are encouraged to take part in charity fundraising during the run up to Christmas each year and the proceeds are divided between charities chosen by the children.
